Roadmap
Where the platform is headed
This page outlines what we are building, what is already in place, and what comes next. Since launching in 2014, the curriculum has grown considerably — but the structural changes planned for the coming period are the most significant yet. The sequence below reflects actual priorities, not aspirational speculation.
Core Curriculum Foundation
The original seminar structure covering journalism theory, source methodology, and editorial standards. Built for synchronous participation with documented session archives.
- News theory and framing models
- Source verification protocols
- Synchronous seminar format
- Session recording archive
Peer Discussion Infrastructure
Structured peer exchange between participants across different time zones. Discussion threads tied directly to seminar material, with moderated commentary from facilitators.
- Moderated topic threads
- Cross-region participant groups
- Facilitator commentary layer
- Asynchronous Q&A queues
Analytical Tools & Case Library
A growing reference library of annotated case studies drawn from international journalism practice. Participants can submit analyses and receive structured feedback from senior editors.
- Annotated case database
- Participant submission workflow
- Senior editor feedback system
- Cross-referencing between cases
Certification & Specialist Tracks
Formal recognition paths for participants completing defined learning sequences. Specialist tracks in investigative reporting, data journalism, and editorial leadership are under development.
- Completion certification
- Investigative reporting track
- Data journalism track
- Editorial leadership track
Recent development activity
Forty-one annotated cases from North American and European newsrooms made available for review and discussion. Submission form for participant analyses went live alongside the library.
The previous flat comment structure replaced with threaded replies tied to specific seminar timestamps. Participants can now respond to particular moments in recorded sessions rather than sessions as a whole.
Following feedback from the facilitator group, the Phase 4 certification requirements were scoped: participants need to complete all core seminars, submit three case analyses, and pass a written editorial assessment.
Birgitta Sandqvist, formerly of a Scandinavian investigative desk, and Olamide Adewuyi from a West African broadcast network joined the facilitation team. Both contribute active practice perspectives alongside the existing academic faculty.
Participants in significantly different time zones can now complete all seminar requirements without attending live sessions. All assessments and discussion contributions remain identical — only the timing is flexible.
The roadmap is a working document, not a fixed promise. If something shifts based on participant needs or editorial practice, we update this page. Questions about any phase are welcome at contact@attestnode.sbs.
